Kitten rescued from car's engine compartment - The Bloomingtonian

The kitten Bridget Dwyer had just rescued in Kentucky jumped out of her hands and ran under a car climbing into the engine compartment near the intersection of E. 8th Street and Dunn Saturday around 1:30 p.m.
A passerby stopped and tried to help, offering some raw chicken for the cat, but that was of no avail.
Finally, Dwyer called animal control, but the animal control officer was unable to determine the owner of the car and recommended waiting until the cat could be coaxed out.
Dwyer said she was concerned about the cat in the 90-degree weather and was prepared to wait as long as necessary to rescue the cat.
Dwyer alternated between trying to find the owner of the car, waiting to see if the cat would crawl out, then finally some meowing could be heard. The cat could be heard and responded. “It’s stuck,” said Dwyer. Then Dwyer finally got a hand on the kitten and pulled it to safety about four hours after it had run and hid in the car’s engine compartment.
After holding the kitten Dwyer put it into a cat carrier animal control had loaned her so it couldn’t run away again.
