An employee at a towing company in Philadelphia noticed a strong odor coming from the trunk of one of the cars that had been towed to the facility.
He opened it up and found a woman’s body inside, NBC 10 is reporting.
It’s not yet known where the car was initially towed from, but a police investigation is underway.
“I got a call from an employee saying he found a body. I thought he was joking,” Joe Swan of Superior Automotive told Action News 6 ABC.
The discovery was made around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday on the 5000 block of Merion Avenue in West Philadelphia. Reports indicate the car had been towed several days ago.
The woman found in the trunk of the silver Dodge Charger has not yet been identified, and a cause of death has not yet been determined, according to reports.
NBC 10 reports this is the third time in less than two months that a woman’s body has been found in city, though police say there is no known connection between the incidents. On July 17, a woman was found dead in a tote bag in South Philadelphia, and on June 11, a woman was found dead in a suitcase in Kensington.
