This Labor Day weekend, a novel end of summer event will occur at the Lebanon Valley Exposition Center and Fair Grounds. The family-friendly event will be held on Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5, and will consist of a drive-in movie, a cruise night, food trucks, quality vendors, and merchandise.

Robert Nunez, the owner of Robert’s Diner in Richland, is the main organizer of the unique, two-day event.

“We have been planning the whole event for about seven weeks,” Robert Nunez, the organizer of the event, said. “It was basically an idea that manifested into an event.”

The main event on Friday night will be a drive-in movie showing of Jurassic Park. There will be a Jurassic Park jeep and actors dressed as various characters from the movie available for photo opportunities. The drive-in movie is scheduled to begin at dusk.

The rain date for the movie showing is the following day, Saturday, Sept. 5. Parking for the movie begins at 4:00 p.m. There is a suggested $25 entrance fee to assist in covering expenses for the movie set-up and preparation, as well as a five-person per carload limit.

“The screen we are renting is from USA Theatres and they have helped out with the planning for the event,” Nunez said.

Attendees can bring lawn chairs and blankets and are encouraged to stay at their vehicles for the duration of the movie showing.

On Saturday night, there will be a community car cruise night. The car cruise will be a combination of classic and modern muscle cars, as well as other unique vehicles. The vehicles can start arriving at approximately 4:00 p.m. and the festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. Entering is free to the public. To enter a car in the car cruise night, call Robert Nunez at 717-644-7561.

Additionally, various food trucks and vendors will be in attendance. The food trucks will include Los Tacos, SomehowHealthy, Farm Show Milkshakes, Italian Job Food Truck, Mayra Caribbean Kitchen, Lorah’s Handmade Chocolates, Devour Catering, Cajun Culture, Hresko Bar-B-Que Pit, Scoop O Dough and Grilled Cheese Cafe. There will be more than 40 vendors at the event selling different types of quality goods and crafts like comics, knives, arts, crafts, jewelry, quilts, CBD, essential oils, etc. The food trucks and vendors will be open for operation both days from noon until 9:00 p.m.

“We are excited to give people an opportunity to get out of their houses to enjoy the end of the summer,” Nunez said.

Raging Reptiles and Feeders will be at the event both days showing their reptile exhibits, as well as habitats for bearded dragons, scorpions, leopard geckos, ball pythons and bugs.

DJ Jose Pain Peña will be at the event on Saturday to play a variety of music for all ages. He will be playing music from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Lebanon County Special Olympics will be in attendance on Saturday and will raffle away baskets to the public. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event and patrons do not need to be present to win.

“This event is helping out the community by bringing in multiple nonprofits like the Special Olympics, the Humane Society and others who have not been able to go to their regular shows because of COVID situations,” Nunez said.

The advertisers and sponsors for this event are Greek Town Pizza, Lebanon County Career and Technology Center’s Practical Nursing Program, Matt Jacobs from State Farm, Joan Hains from Brownstone Realty, state Representative Frank Ryan, Cisney’s Diagnostic Services, Tony Miller from Just Like Family Home Health Care Services, Kramer’s Funeral, Franklin House Tavern, and A Archery & Printing Place Ltd.

All who are planning to attend the event are reminded to wear a face mask and to social distance. For event updates and more information, visit the event Facebook page here.
