A school bus rolled over in Salem on Monday morning and the bus driver was flown to Hartford Hospital, according to state police. A passenger on the bus was also transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries, officials said.
State police said the bus was traveling southbound on Route 85 around 6 a.m. when it went off the roadway and hit a mailbox.
After it hit the mailbox, it continued southbound before going off of the roadway again and hitting a rock wall head on, authorities added.
According to investigators, the bus came to an uncontrolled stop on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Authorities said the driver of the bus was flown to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar to be treated for suspected serious injuries.
A passenger on the bus was transported to the hospital to be treated for suspected minor injuries, state police added.
Emergency officials previously said at least one person was trapped.
No children were on the bus, according to state police.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
