A trailer detached from a box truck Saturday and careened through a garage door at 209 Shady Lane Drive and into a car.
Gerardo J. Chacon-Garcia, 52, of Orlando, Fla., was cited for a towing violation after the 1 p.m. incident.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report he was driving the truck and exited the Shady Lane Apartment complex parking lot to travel north. The trailer came loose and traveled westward into Marlene S. Stokes’ garage and her car.
Damage was heavy to the door, moderate to the car and light to the trailer.
Two lodged
Anthony R. Flowers, 33, of 629 N. Main St., was charged Friday with persistent disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Officers were called to the residence to learn he had been drinking alcohol and let the residence on foot around 9:55 p.m. Christeina V. Borghese, of the same address, told officers she was concerned for the suspect’s wellbeing based upon comments he made throughout the evening.
He was located outside, taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail after he refused to go to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.
• Brandon P. Whitt, 33, of Sidney, was charged Saturday with persistent disorderly conduct. He was arrested and lodged in jail after he became violently uncontrollable during treatment efforts at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Owner reclaims lost money bag
Officers report a bank bag with more than $2,700 cash was turned over to employees of Speedway, 600 E. Sandusky Ave., around 2:20 p.m. Saturday.
The employees told officers a patron brought the bag into the station after finding it on the lot.
Officers placed the bag with cash in a secure locker at department. Around 4:30 p.m., the owner came to the department and provided an accurate description of the bag and its contents. He was given his property.
Police investigate death
Officers are investigating the Friday death of William Haynes, 32, as a possible overdose, according to incident reports.
He was found unconscious and not breathing around 9:50 a.m. in his Whispering Pines Apartment, 700 Township Road 179.
Medics with the Bellefontaine Fire and EMS Department attempted to revive Haynes and he was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Motorist cited for leaving crash scene
Stephanie O. Pine, 73, of Bellefontaine, was cited Saturday for improper backing and leaving the scene of crash.
Kimberly Bell, of Bellefontaine, told officers she was inside Goodwill, 1933 S. Main St., at 2:05 p.m. and observed Pine operating a car which hit Bell’s parked sport utility vehicle.
Pine reportedly opened her car door, looked at Bell’s SUV before driving off. Officers watch surveillance camera footage and located the car at Pine’s residence.
They noted her car has numerous areas of prior impacts.
She denied hitting the SUV.
Officers are referring the report to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and requesting a driver’s license examination and recertification.
Woman charged with theft
Robin Shulaw, 44, of 119 New St., Quincy, was charged Friday with theft. Staff at Walmart, 2282 S. Main St., report she was stopped after they observed her take $130 of makeup products out of it packaging and stash the items in her purse.
She admitted as much to officers.
