Stolen car, Simich Drive
Independence and Seven Hills Police attempted to catch a Ford Fusion reported stolen from Independence at 4:28 a.m. Oct. 26. Independence Police reports stated that Seven Hills PD reported seeing the stolen car and two other vehicles on Beechwood Drive and giving pursuit. An Independence officer saw the suspected stolen car driving at “high rate of speed” at the near Chestnut Road. The car reportedly turned onto State Route 21, weaving “in and out of traffic,” reports said. The officer said he had to terminate the pursuit for the safety of other drivers, having last seen the car headed westbound on Interstate 480.
Stolen car, Quarry Lane
A woman reported her 2017 Chevrolet Impala stolen from the parking lot of Red Roof Inn overnight Oct. 25. The woman said she saw the car when she came outside around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 25. The car was gone when she came outside the next morning. A maintenance worker at the motel returned the victim’s driver’s license, which the employee said he had found on the ground in the parking lot. The worker added that he had seen a man driving the victim’s car out of the parking lot at around 8 a.m., but had thought nothing of it at the time. There was no further information at the time of the report.
Theft, Quarry Lane
A man reported his 1996 Ford Econoline van stolen from the parking lot of the DoubleTree Hotel at 7:31 a.m. Oct. 25. The victim said he thinks the van was stolen some time overnight Oct. 24. He said he parked the van in the lot at around 9 p.m. Oct. 24 and “remembered locking the vehicle,” reports said. He added that he had the van keys with him when the theft took place. The van contained approximately $30 worth of CDs and cassette tapes and a $10 phone charger, the victim said.
