Alcohol, drugs, and excessive speed were all factors in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday afternoon in El Paso County. Involving a stolen bus, the crash claimed the lives of two individuals and left another four seriously injured.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred at about 11 AM on Highway 83 just south of Old Stagecoach Road.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a 20-year-old man reportedly stole a 16-passenger bus in Aurora at about 9:00 AM on Thursday. The suspect fled from police who first attempted to pull the suspect over before calling off the high-speed chase due to safety concerns.
The stolen bus was spotted a second time in Parker at about 10:30 AM. The driver of the bus slammed into an unoccupied vehicle while continuing to flee from police who did not further purse him.
About 40 minutes later, the driver of the stolen bus headed southbound on Highway 83, crossing over into oncoming northbound traffic and colliding with two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.
A 42-year-old female driver of a Toyota 4Runner was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second vehicle, a Honda Pilot, involved in the crash was carrying several passengers who suffered serious injuries, including a 7-year-old girl. A 66-year-old male suffering from serious injuries was pronounced dead at the hospital. In total, four passengers in the second vehicle were seriously injured, one of which is suffering life threatening injuries.
Colorado State Patrol says the driver of the stolen bus is expected to survive despite serious injuries. Drugs, alcohol, and excessive speed were determined factors in the crash.
Highway 83 was temporarily shut down Thursday for the crash investigation and reopened at about 4:30 PM.
