(Aug. 15, 2021) A car ended up on Cisco Beach early Sunday morning after its driver put the vehicle in drive instead of reverse while trying to leave the beach parking lot.
The car was unoccupied when it was discovered later Sunday morning.
According to a press release from the Nantucket Police Department, "officers were dispatched to Cisco Beach to investigate a report of an abandoned motor vehicle that drove over one of the dunes. Upon arrival they located a gray 2001 Honda Civic that was parked at a downward angle hanging over the edge of the bank.
Officers were able to locate the owner of the vehicle at a residence in Madaket. After talking to the operator she advised them that she had gotten into an argument with a friend and drove to the beach about 3 a.m. to think for a while. When she attempted to leave the beach she put the vehicle into drive rather than reverse and accidentally drove over the bank. Unable to get the vehicle back onto the parking lot she walked home. She reported no injuries as a result of the accident. "
