One dead after car targeted by gunfire, Tampa police say - Tampa Bay Times

TAMPA — One person was killed and two others were wounded late Monday night when their car was targeted by gunfire, according to Tampa police.

The incident took place at about 10:30 p.m. near N 22nd Street and E Cayuga Street in the Belmont Heights area.

Three people were riding in a car when another vehicle fired gunshots at them, police said.

The wounded driver took them to the parking lot of the Tampa Police Department’s District 3 station at 3808 N 22nd St., police said.

Officers gave medical aid to all three victims. All three were taken to a local hospital, where police said one succumbed to their wounds.

Tampa police said the shooting doesn’t appear to be random. None of the wounded were named by police and no other details were released. The investigation is continuing.
