“The Classic Car Show was the brainchild of my husband, allowing for folks to enjoy an evening of music plus an opportunity to show off their vintage vehicles,” Schmid says.

A host of categories, including best paint job, best interior, most character and favorite muscle car, are voted on by the audience, and prizes and trophies are awarded.

Schmid explains, “The owner of S.T.H. Auto, Scott Adams, is a neighbor just 2 miles from our farm and has helped boost the car show and make it a great event, including providing trophies to the winners.”

In addition to a performance from Raw Sugar at this week's event, several more concerts are planned for the coming months as part of Crooked Lane Farm's Summer Concert Series that features a range of musical acts from rock to blues and folk tunes. These summer concerts have been rocking in the sprawling countryside since 2014.

“The spirit, joy and friendship surrounding a warm summer evening, good music and delightful folks in our rural setting is the absolute best,” Schmid says. “After all, how many folks get to host an evening of music and fun in their own backyard?”

This year presents new challenges for the farm as they work to offer a safe and healthy environment, including new guidelines for visitors to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We will promote social distancing and encourage folks to wear masks,” Schmid says. “Fortunately, we have plenty of space for spreading out.”

Attendees at Thursday's show should be prepared to walk a lot in order to see all the cars. Black Pelican Food Truck will serve up sandwiches and beverages, while Dakota Vines will sell wine and Crooked Lane Farm sells beer.

“On a perfect summer evening, the concerts are a celebration of the season, art and community,” Schmid says.
