LOWELL — A man was transported to a Boston-area hospital by MedFlight helicopter after he was struck by a car near the intersection of School and Middlesex streets on Wednesday night.
According to the emergency radio broadcast, the injured man — estimated to be in his early 40s — was unresponsive, but breathing after being struck by the vehicle shortly after 9 p.m.
The man’s condition and the cause of the accident were not immediately available.
Police officers placed tape blocking off the intersection to foot and vehicle traffic. They were still at the scene of the crash around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
