HOLLAND, Mich. — Police are investigating after an Ottawa County car dealership was broken into Monday morning.
It happened before 6 a.m. at Elhart Hyundai Car Dealership on Chicago Drive in Holland.
We're told as many as two cars were stolen, according to the Holland Department of Public Safety.
Police say the employees were there at the time of the break-in.
Officers arrived to the suspects driving off and chased one of the vehicles about 20 miles northeast of the dealership where one of the suspects abandoned a Ford Fusion on the side of Wilson Ave near 56th Street in Wyoming.
Sergeant Dan Kender with HDPS says he believes these crimes are now becoming more typical given the current state of our nation.
"We're not totally sure yet but we are kind of linking it with possible other businesses that were broken into also," Kender said.
Several dealerships in Kent County along Plainfield Avenue have been targeted over the last month.
"Obviously we will be doing some proactive things to combat this, so we'll be a little smarter because of it," Kender said.
No arrests have been made. If you know anything call police or Silent Observer.
