ZEELAND, MI -- Two people on a motorcycle were injured in a collision with a car in Zeeland Township.

The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Chicago Drive and 64th Avenue.

Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said a 17-year-old Hudsonville girl was driving north on 64th Avenue and stopped for a stop sign at Chicago Drive, intending to turn east. She then pulled into the path of an eastbound motorcycle.

The motorcyclists, a 58-year-old Lakeland, Florida man and a 49-year-old Zeeland woman, were taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital with what were believed minor injuries. They were not wearing helmets, police said.

The 17-year-old car driver was issued a citation, police said. She had a 16-year-old female passenger in the vehicle who police said also was injured, but they did not specify the severity of the injury.

Fire crews blocked eastbound Chicago Drive while Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies investigated he crash, although the road was back open about 50 minutes after the collision.
